On large construction sites around the world, skilled workers operated their machines manually by reading values from paper or PDF lists and transferring them to the machines. And they logged environmental values such as weather as well as their performance on a piece of paper.

The solution

The new app not only replaces the pieces of paper for logging but also provides the settings for the machine. After selecting the machine type, it is able to provide the settings for the machine. To do this, it reads weather data that are relevant for the machine settings from a weather app via an interface. The app guides the worker during his work on how to operate the machine. All steps are logged in the app, and the log is uploaded at the end if an internet connection is available. If not, the app saves the data locally on the worker’s device and uploads it later when a connection is available.
