The company formerly known as Squirrel is now named SnipClip. Jan Schlink, a member of the advisory board of SnipClip, invented the name. It is derived from the noun snip and the verb to clip. Snip clipping refers to the popular activity of clipping video snips from YouTube & Co. into profile pages on Facebook, MySpace & Co.

SnipClip is an online platform for snip clipping. SnipClip will provide users video snips of their favourite movies. Fans can collect  their snips in customizable scrapbooks and trade the snips among their friends from communities like Facebook or MySpace.
